Hail Storm Sweeps Minneapolis Area | July 1, 2012
The year of 2012 has been a strong year for storm and hail damage in Twin Cities area of Minnesota. Not since 2009 has Minnesota experienced this many violent storms sweeping into the Minneapolis area bringing high winds and hail damage to your Minnesota homes.
On July 1, 2012 a storm cell brought thunder, lighting, and hail to the Minneapolis Metro area hitting places around St. George, Gibbon, and Mora Minnesota. Hail sizes were reported to be 1″ to 1.5″ in diameter. Hail this size is estimated to travel around 9 m/sec(20mph) – 15 m/sec(33mph). These hail storms lasted around 5 minutes long causing hail and storm damage to many vehicles, homes, and properties.
This is now the 10th hail storm reported around the Minneapolis/St.Paul area since April 4th, 2012.
