The 4th of July holiday weekend is typically reserved for parades, fireworks and American history lessons. This years July celebration started out with a severe round of storms that passed through the north metro area of Minneapolis, St. Paul Minnesota. Storms producing high winds and damaging hail ripped through St. Cloud, Big Lake and Monticello, Minnesota causing extensive damage to trees, homes and cars. Hail as large as 4-1/4″ was reported from the National Weather Service in Minnesota.

In St. Cloud, MN there were over 200 trees reported down, many of these being mature growth hardwoods that have survived many Minnesota summer storms. In the northern metro area of Minneapolis, St. Paul MN large hail damaged vinyl siding, asphalt roofing and aluminum trim work as well as gutters on homes and businesses.
