September 19th, 2013 the national weather service reported a serve thunderstorm that brought hail and heavy winds just north of the Twin Cites. The thunderstorm swept through the Maple Plain area around 10AM, showering residents with 1” hail for approximately 15 minutes.

The storm continued east running through Big Lake, Monticello, and Elk River. These cities experienced winds up to 60mph and hail quarter-sized hail. (A thunderstorm this size can damage personal items and leave people’s belongings scattered across the neighborhood.)
The storm continued east bound hitting Cambridge, MN with 2” hail and buckets of rain. The reports from NWS reported that the city of Cambridge took in over 2.5” inches of rain that led to flooding issues in the streets.
