Choosing your roofing material is a complex process that requires the careful consideration of numerous aspects – According to professionals, like those found at Stinson Roofing, here are a few of the most important things that you should know about the most common roofing materials before you make your choice:

  • Clay tiles – the best solution in both cold and hot areas, clay tiles keep the building interior comfortably warm in winter and cool in summer. Clay is also a durable material, many tiles being warranted for 100+ years;
  • Metal roofs – another material that works great in any climate area. Metal roofs also offer the benefit of low maintenance and easy installation – they can be installed on top of the existing roofing, provided that the old roof and the building are sufficiently strong and the metal roof to be installed is only the second layer and they don’t need any special maintenance, other than regular, inspection, cleaning and small repairs;
  • Asphalt shingles – the cheapest and most varied roofing material is also suitable for cold and hot climates, provided that you install suitable insulation underneath the roof as well. Asphalt shingles can withstand not only heat and cold, but high humidity that comes in the form of rain or snow as well.
