Severe thunderstorms dropped large amounts of hail on cars, homes, and commercial buildings on the evening of August 6, 2013 in the Minneapolis – St. Paul area. The storm rumbled across Chanhassen, MN leaving 1″-2″ hail stones in it’s wake. It traveled over Eden Prairie and Bloomington causing cars to pull over to the side of the road due to sight limitations.
Another major suburb hit by hail was Eagan, MN. Hail struck Eagan with hail the size of large golf balls and winds up to 40-60mph. Xcel Energy said that more than 44,000 customer from St. Cloud through the Twin Cities metro area were without power around 9pm. By morning 11,000 were still without power.
