Keeping Up with the Main Signs of Snow Damage on a Flat Roof

There are typically a few possibilities regarding the signs that show snow damage on a flat roof. Ponding is one of them, as the snow can end up gathering in larger amounts and putting significant weight on one side of the roof. The weight can lead up to the pressure causing the roof to cave in slightly, then as the water melts, it would form a small puddle.

The water typically evaporates leaving just a small dent in the flat roof, but this doesn’t usually happen when temperatures fall below freezing in the winter. Instead, the water will freeze, expanding and seeping into the cracks and crevices of the roof, which will lead to further damage.

If left unchecked, the problem can deepen, leading to leaks that can be noticed from the inside of the building as well. You might see drops of water forming on the inside of walls and ceilings, or even heavier signs of leakage that will ultimately warrant a more complete repair job.
