The best way to make sure your roof is in perfect shape and stays that way, too is to schedule two maintenance sessions for it, one in spring, to remove the debris gathered in the roof during the winter and to check for and repair any damage caused by the cold, snowy season and one in fall, to prepare the roof for the winter. However, a caring homeowner never rests, so here are some roofing Minneapolis maintenance tasks that you should handle in June, when the rainy spring is over and when the summer is not yet that harsh:

  • Gutter cleaning and inspection – gutters and downspouts need permanent attention, especially after prolonged rainy periods. Taking care of them is easy, all you need is a sturdy ladder, a tool for scraping and a bucket for the debris. Climb up to the roof and scrape off all the debris from the pipes and the spouts, then check them for any damage that needs repair, such as sagging or corrosion;

Flashing maintenance – the stripes that weatherproof the roof areas around skylights, vents and chimneys are sensitive to harsh weather, so whenever you clean your gutters, check the flashings for cracks or other forms of damage, too.
