I’m going to give you some very generalized tips on how to install vinyl siding properly so you can avoid any disasters.

First, make sure your walls are flat and clean and free of as many obstacles as possible. Next, you will want to find the lowest point on the house. From this point you will snap a level chalk line all the way around the house. Nail starter strip around the building leaving 1/4″ between the butt joints. Install your corner posts. J-channel should be installed on doors and windows. Start with the sides and do the top last. Notch the J-channel so you will have a drip edge on the corners. Nail the under-sill trim under the windows. Now it’s time to install the siding panels. Start from the starter strip you installed earlier and work your way up. You should stagger your joints 4′ apart. At each joint you should overlap the panels about an inch. Every so often you should check to make sure your panels are staying level. Notch the panels around windows or other obstructions by using tin snips or a utility knife. If this makes your head spin, consider contacting the siding professionals at Stinson Services.
